LUNG CANCER (EARLY DIAGNOSIS AND PREVENTION)

Lung cancer does not usually cause noticeable symptoms, unless it spreads through the lungs or other parts of the body, which makes the recovery rate very low.

In general, about 1 in 3 lung cancer patients live for at least five years after diagnosis, and about 1 in 20 people is at least 10 years old.

Early Diagnosis Benefit?

Early diagnosis of this disease can significantly change recovery rates, so tests and treatments for this cancer are performed and improved. If lung cancer is found at an early stage when it is small and before it spreads, the sufferers have a better chance of treatment.

Current and former smokers are at greater risk for developing lung cancer as they get older. But quitting smoking reduces the risk of death and death from lung cancer.

Early lung cancer was sometimes diagnosed accidently as a result of tests for other medical conditions. For example, lung cancer can be found by tests conducted for other reasons in people with heart disease, pneumonia, or other lung diseases. A small portion of these people can be cured from lung cancer.

New Diagnosis of Lung Cancer

A test called lung examination has recently been developed with a low dose of CT in people at risk of developing lung cancer. This examination can help to find abnormal areas in the lungs that may be cancerous. Research has shown that the use of this test has led to increased detection of cancer and increased chance of recovery compared to X-ray chest, so access to people who are vulnerable to an annual survey low-dose CT before the onset of symptoms helps reduce the risk of dying from lung cancer.
